Recently, we hosted something new for International Student Ambassadors: streetball event for a charity purpose. We aimed to collect at least 150 Euros for a kids’ house in Tartu and to promote basketball and healthy lifestyle among students and the locals. Thanks to sponsors, partners, friends, and players, we surpassed the goal and collected 161.00 EUR!
In total seven teams took part in the event, players representing Estonia, Latvia, Georgia and ASV! The teams were: YliCool I, YliCool II, YliCool III, PPB (Power Puff Boys), Trilogy, Tapper, and Unicorns.
All teams played against each other to get four teams in the semi-finals. The top four teams after the first round were YliCool I, Tapper, Trilogy, and YliCool III. In the first semi-final, one pair was the teams YliCool I and YliCool III; the second pair was Tapper and Trilogy. The first semi-final pair ended with YliCool I victory over Ylicool III with score 10:4. In the second pair, the result was similar: Tapper outscored Trillogy by 10:5.
It was time for the bronze game: Trilogy vs YliCool III. Most of the time of the game, Trilogy was leading and Ylicool III was catching on, but Trilogy’ team turned out to be unattainable and, hence, was celebrating a victory by 8:6!
In the final, it was the two strongest teams in the tournament with good centers, shooters, and excellent point guards. However, team Tapper, with outstanding 3-point shooting and quick ball movement turned out to be better and outscored YliCool I with score 13:6! Congratulations to Tapper!

Before the semi-finals, we also had a 3-point shooting contest to find the best sniper of the tournament. We altogether had 12 participants. Players were given 1 minute to score as many baskets as possible. In the first round, amazing accuracy was showed by Erkki Voronin from Tapper team: he made 13 buckets in 1 minute! In final qualified 5 best shooters: Errki Voronin, Riho Tiivel, Argo Orumaa, Krister Tapper and Taavi Jürimaa. In the final best was Argo Orumaa. His score: 10 made shots (first round 9). Congratulations to Argo!
Players were asked to “pay” at least 15.00 Euros for taking part in this event. Since all the money was collected for donations to MTÜ Vahtramägi lastekodu Mäe – kodu, many teams paid more than requested. Thank you for that! In addition, in order to take part in a 3-point shooting contest, each player had to pay additional 3.00 Euros – therefore thanks everyone for their contribution and donations!
Nevertheless, as a manager of this event, I want to express individual gratitude to our friends and sponsors of the event. Firstly, thank you words goes to Essi and Alisa for volunteering at the score table and keeping track on all timetables and game scores! Also Jayaruwan for capturing the best moments of the tournament in photos; as well as Anastasia for creating visuals for the event! Thank you!
