With summer comes travelling, two things that go perfectly hand in hand. Who doesn’t love soaking up the warm sun in a nice getaway somewhere? Obviously before jumping on the plane to wherever it may take you, one must go through the least enjoyable part of travelling, which is packing. Packing fashionably smart and light is an art that many of us have yet to master, but meanwhile here are some tips that I find useful when packing for my trips.
As much as you’d love to take your entire wardrobe along, learn to minimize. Pack clothes that can easily be paired together, such as solid color tees and patterned pants or dresses. They’re fun to put together and perfect for a fun summery vibe. As for shoes, take ones that will go with multiple outfits instead of a pair for each outfit.
Keep your destination in mind. Although this tip may sound simple, it’s important. An easy way to cut down on the clothes you’re packing is to go through them and ask yourself these questions: Is this actually suitable for the destination I’m heading to? Will the weather there be appropriate for it? Is it something wearable for most days or an outfit you’re most likely never going to wear? If you answer ‘yes’ to all these questions then you’re good to go! If not, you may want to take your packed clothes out and think twice before taking them along for the trip.
Don’t take your entire makeup collection along either! The last thing you want to be doing is taking an entire suitcase full of makeup. Take the necessities that you already use on a daily basis and maybe a little extra favorites, but there’s no reason for you to take along five of your favorite eye shadow pallets just in case.
Be practical and sensible. Make sure you keep liquids such as shampoo and perfumes in zip lock bags to prevent them from spilling and to save space in your luggage. Roll your clothes instead of folding them and try to pack only as much as you need. Organizing outfits for each day and being prepared saves a lot of hassle.
